PIO: The People Improvement Organization
About PIO
The People Improvement Organization (PIO), is a legal, non-profit organisation established in 2002 under the leadership of former United Nations worker, Phymean Noun.
Their Vision
To improve the living conditions of underprivileged people, especially girls, women and street children, by offering education and vocational skills training.
Programme
Their work is focused primarily in their outreach centres. PIO work directly with the people in the community and provide the children and their families with education and food. For older students, they offer a vocational training program. Learning a skill provides the opportunity to earn an income away from the dumpsites. To support the local community they also coordinate a local community savings program.
They currently have three outreach centres.
